The Gamecube is online again. Sorta.

So, there were all of four games (well, technically three) that used the Gamecube's broadband adapter for online play, and only two of them were available domestically (Phantasy Star Online Episodes I&II and Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution). And unfortunately for die-hard PSO players (like myself), Sega officially closed the servers for the game in April of 2007, putting an end to one era to presumably focus on the less-entertaining and less-endearing one to follow (read: Phantasy Star Universe).

However, thanks to efforts from many PSO fans across the 'net, the legend doesn't have to die and can live on as long as you want it to. Selfless individuals have taken it upon themselves to throw up free and public PSO servers for anyone to access and play upon, many of them with all of the region-exclusive content unlocked and available for players from all reaches of the globe. While there are quite a few of these servers out there, with varying requirements to gain access, the one that I've found is the easiest to use and simplest to register for is SCHTHACK: simply email them the serial number and access key you have saved in your system data file, and wait for them to add you to their database. Within a day or two, you'll be ready to log on to the server following their simple directions and get going once again.

It's always nice to see devotion among a fanbase like this, especially when it's for a game or series that you personally hold dear in your memories. Okay, yeah, that sounded a little fruity, but whatcha gonna do 'bout it? Point is, enjoy things like these, because it's rare that games invoke a level of commitment such as this. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go play some PSO like the complete and total winner at life that I am.

Oh my god that's the most pathetic thing I've ever heard in my whole life.
